Eastern Kentucky University Contemplating New $83M Facility
Eastern Kentucky University officials want to build a new $83 million College of Education complex.
The 279,000-square-foot facility is in the preliminary stages of planning, but if constructed it would be one of the first buildings to greet visitors coming to the university from the west.
For now, EKU spokesperson Mark Whitt says completing the second phase of construction for its new science building is at the top of the school’s to-do list. A new education complex would have to come afterward. It would replace Eastern's Donovan complex, built in 1961.
EKU President Michael Benson says the new joint facility would be intended to last for the next 50 years.
