DSCC Pulls Back On Ads For Grimes

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has stopped running TV ads in Kentucky's Senate race, a troubling sign for Alison Lundergan Grimes.

In a statement, the committee says it has spent more than $2 million in Kentucky and is still funding get-out-the-vote operations. The committee says it will continue to monitor the race, but it has made no commitment to go back on the air in support of Grimes, who has been pummeled by tens of millions of dollars in attack ads by McConnell and his allies.

The Democratic committee continues to spend heavily in other competitive races in Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia and elsewhere as it tries to prevent Republicans from winning a Senate majority.

Update 5:48 PM: Asked for comment, the Grimes campaign directed WUKY to its most recent fundraising statement, which states, "Today, Alison for Kentucky is proud to announce our campaign has raised nearly $4.9 million for the final 21 day stretch. The campaign has nearly $4.4 million cash on hand – more than any Democrat in a competitive US Senate race. Our strong grassroots campaign has consistently out-raised Mitch McConnell in three out of the last four quarters, as well as nearly every other campaign in the nation."
