In Depth: The Courageous Legal Case Of Charlotte Dupuy Versus Henry Clay

Alan Lytle

As part of Women's History Month, Alan Lytle talks with Lexington Historian Yvonne Giles and actress Elizabeth Lawson about the little known story of Charlotte Dupuy, a slave in the household of Henry Clay who sued her owner for her freedom in 1829.

Ms. Lawson travels the state telling Charlotte's story as part of the Kentucky Humanities' Council's Chautauqua program.
