Cyndi Lauper To Serve As Grand Marshal Of Pegasus Parade
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The singer who hit it big with an album titled "She's So Unusual" will be the grand marshal in the Pegasus Parade next month. Cyndi Lauper was tapped for the ceremonial duty on Thursday.
The Grammy Award-winning singer is coming to Louisville as a guest of the Kentucky Derby Festival. Before the May 3 parade begins, Lauper will give a mini performance to the crowd, including her hit "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," while dancers from a local studio perform.
While she's visiting, Lauper also is expected to attend the annual Barnstable Brown Gala on Derby eve and appear at the Celebrity Day at the Downs.
Stacey Robinson, the Festival's senior vice president of operations, told The Louisville Courier-Journal that Lauper would "bring tremendous energy and excitement as grand marshal."
