LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington Fire Chief Robert Hendricks wants more time to consider his possible resignation, but the Urban County Council is already taking steps that could lead to his termination. Vice Mayor Linda Gorton explained the latest action during a Tuesday afternoon committee meeting.
"The motion is to refer to be placed on the docket Thursday night a resolution which states the Council has expressed no confidence in the current leadership of the Division of Fire."
Council members voted to address Hendricks' leadership at tomorrow's full council meeting. Two public readings and another vote are required before the resolution is officially adopted.
Mayor Jim Gray asked Hendricks to resign Monday, citing a lack of good management in overseeing the fire department's budget.
The fire chief was supposed to explain the latest overtime figures to council members, but Hendricks was absent from Tuesday's meeting.
