A time capsule from 1956 now packed with items from 2014 didn’t quite make it back into the ground Monday thanks to the rain.

But officials are reflecting on the contents and what they might look like in 2064 - that’s the year it’s scheduled to be opened up again.

"When this capsule is unearthed, this campus will be a dramatically different place," UK President Eli Capilouto told the crowd at a press event Monday.

Last September, demolition crews taking down UK’s Cooperstown residence halls stumbled upon the mysterious package by chance. Inside the olive-green oilcloth, they found a container hiding old phonebooks, a campus map, and various other UK memorabilia.

"The schedule of classes was really thin. They've got some pictures from the old dorms. It's funny to see the same buildings that haven't been renovated today that are just about to go down," said UK senior Clay Marrillia.

New items in the updated time capsule will include a 2014 Final Four shirt, the university’s master plan, and a picture from UK’s annual student-led philanthropy event, Dance Blue.
