Consulting Firm Agrees To Give Back $75,000

By Alan Lytle

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington Mayor Jim Gray says the city will get back its portion of the $150,000 paid to a consulting firm that was hired to compose the city's economic development plan, after it was discovered that significant portions of the draft were lifted verbatim from previous assignments for other communities.

Mayor Gray says he met face to face with the CEO of Angelou Economics Monday morning to discuss the situation.

"I asked him if he would be willing to take the financial consequences of the credibility gap that's been developed here, and to refund the city's $75,000 investment, and he agreed to that."

The project represents a joint effort between the city and Commerce Lexington.

Meanwhile, Gray says he doesn't have any new information regarding the removal of Fire Chief Robert Hendricks. The mayor says the city's law department is preparing a case for the dismissal of the chief over excessive overtime, lax leadership, and poor divisional morale.
