Confederate Historian Says Recent Controversy A Chance To Tell A More Inclusive Story Of Kentucky

civilwar.org

This week, like many communities across the South and the Border South, the city of Lexington has been re-examining its lingering confederate monuments and symbols, specifically whether they should remain where they are now, or perhaps relocated to museums somewhere.  Dr. Anne E. Marshall of Lexington has a keen interest in, and knowledge of, the John Hunt Morgan and John C. Breckinridge statues in downtown Lexington.  The associate professor of history at Mississippi State University is the author of Creating a Confederate Kentucky-The Lost Cause and Civil War Memory.  She spoke with WUKY's Alan Lytle.
