Cold Weather Causing Water Shortages

More than 40 thousand households in 18 counties are without water today.

Kentucky Emergency Management said that Clay, Pike and Harlan Counties were the hardest hit.  The Kentucky National Guard will be delivering water to Pike and Harlan County and crews will be taking about 160,000 gallons of water a day to distribution warehouses.

Water main breaks across Winchester forced the utility company to issue a mandatory water conservation order which comes with a $25 fine if not followed.  Estill County and parts of Powell, Wolfe, Owsley and Rockcastle are under a boil water advisory.
