Lexington, KY – The 190 million dollar Distillery District project would convert two former distilleries on Manchester Street into an arts and entertainment district. All eleven who spoke on this project supported it except one Perry street homeowner who wanted to know if he'd lose his house.
TIF funding for the Phoenix Park / Courthouse Development project is more controversial due to its connection to the Webb brothers' CentrePointe project. Many civic and business leaders spoke out in favor of this project, including Mike Scanlon, But Joe Graves called the CentrePointe project oversized and unneeded. He told the officials to be wary.
The next steps are to define the projects in more detail and perhaps pass ordinances to create the TIF districts.
