Chandler, Barr Won't Air Ads On September 11th
FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Democratic U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler and Republican challenger Andy Barr are suspending TV advertising on Tuesday, the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
Chandler said he's doing so in honor of the victims, rescue workers and military service members. President Barack Obama and his Republican opponent Mitt Romney also are taking down their TV ads that day.
Chandler spokeswoman Meghan Groob said Sept. 11 is a solemn and sacred day. She said Chandler believes putting politics aside for the day is a sign of respect, and she invited Chandler's Republican opponent, Lexington attorney Andy Barr, to join in suspending TV ads.
Barr spokesman David Host confirmed Wednesday that his campaign will join in the suspension of ads.
