Celebrate Easter With Kentucky Parks

Kentucky’s state parks and historic sites are gearing up for the holiday weekend.

Gil Lawson, spokesperson for the Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet says visitors can expect egg hunts, outdoor activities and specially planned Easter day meals.  “It’s one of the many traditions in state parks that we celebrate this weekend.  We have an Easter buffet on Sunday and then at many of our parks we’ll be having special events such as Easter egg hunts and walks.”

Lawson says the parks and historic sites across the state are the perfect remedy to cure cabin fever.  “A big thing on people’s list is to just get out and hike.  The trails are open.  They’re clear…you can really get away from it all and enjoy the outdoors with just a simple hike.  All of our parks have trails.  We have over 300 miles of trails state-wide.”

To find park locations, service times for the Easter buffet and a list of other holiday activities, log on to http://www.parks.ky.gov.  Meals are just under $19 for adults and $9 for children 12 and under.
