Bus Driver Accused Of Ignoring Guns Enters Court Plea

A Kentucky school bus driver accused of not alerting school officials that two boys had guns in their backpacks has entered a not guilty plea.

Charles Honce appeared before a judge Monday on the charge of facilitation to unlawfully possess a weapon on school property after posting a $5,000 bond.

Police say on April 30th, a first-grader and kindergartener took two handguns, one of them loaded, on a bus last week to Dewitt Elementary School in Flat Lick.  Honce was allegedly told by another student on board that the boys had the guns but didn’t report it or check for weapons.  Authorities said the boys apparently thought they were toys and were bringing them to school for show and tell.  No one was hurt, and the firearms were taken when the siblings reached school after another student told a teacher.

Each boy was charged with possession of a firearm on school property, and their parents, 50-year old John Jackson Junior and 44-year old Melissa Jackson were charged with endangering the welfare of a minor.
