The Lexington Opera House has announced the shows for the 2015-16 Broadway and Variety Live season - and the lineup aims to attract theatergoers young and old.
True to form, the annual announcement is itself a production, spotlighting local talent who perform selections from the shows set to take the stage in the new season.
"It's a blockbuster season," says Sheila Kenny with the Lexington Center. "Every single show is just going to be a crowd pleaser guaranteed. And I'm so excited that there are a couple of great family friend shows. So what a great opportunity for parents and grandparents to introduce their children to the magic that happens on an Opera House stage."
Those kid-friendly productions include Disney’s Beauty and the Beast this September and Annie the following January.
The entire season kicks off with 42nd Street in July. Other shows include the Mel Brooks’ musical The Producers, Mamma Mia!, percussion troop STOMP, Flashdance, and 2012 Tony Award winner Once.
Season tickets go on sale at the Lexington Center box office May 21 and cost $180 to $340.
