Bishop Stowe Ready To Lead Diocese

The Catholic Diocese of Lexington has ordained a new bishop.  About 1600 people gathered for the installation mass at the Cathedral of Christ the King.

The former Reverend John Stowe told the congregation on audience watching through a video feed that he was deeply touched by the welcome he’s received in Kentucky and is overjoyed and honored with his newest position in the Catholic Church.  “I’m feeling great.  Just overwhelmed by all the emotion here and the love that people have shown and it all feels very good.  The prayers worked!”

Stowe becomes the third Bishop to lead the Diocese of Lexington which was formed in 1988 and serves 50 counties in Central and Eastern Kentucky.  His predecessor, Bishop Ronald Gainer was there to bless the newest Bishop.  Gainer left Lexington in 2014 to head the Diocese of Harrisburg Pennsylvania.
