Best of Bluegrass Reveals Initial Details

Preliminary details have emerged about  a major Lexington music event.  Reporter Chase Cavanaugh has the details.

Organizers for Best of the Bluegrass revealed their initial plans Thursday.  The event began in 2013 to celebrate the Festival of the Bluegrass, and will run in conjunction with it this year.  Art Shechet of Natasha’s says BOB will bring a variety of musicians into the city.

It’s all going to be happening in local venues downtown and near to downtown,” he said.

These venues include Al’s Bar, Red Barn Radio, and WoodSong's, with artists such as Steep Canyon Rangers, Dale Ann Bradley, and the Misty Mountain String Band.  These performances will supplement Festival events at the Kentucky Horse Park, and are free of charge.   Roy Cornett, whose family organizes the Festival, is quite pleased with this partnership.

“At the end of the day, this partnership between Bob and the festival of the bluegrass is creating a week where if you care anything at all about bluegrass music, you’re going  to have to be in the city of Lexington on the second week of June, and I’m really proud of that," he said.

WUKY is a partner for Best of Bluegrass, and Lextran will provide shuttle service between downtown and the Horse Park.  Additional information is available at bluegrasslex.com.
