Beshear Asks White House For Disaster Declaration

Louisville, KY – KENTUCKY GOVERNOR STEVE BESHEAR HAS ASKED PRESIDENT
BUSH TO ISSUE A FEDERAL DISASTER DECLARTION FOR THE STATE
IN THE WAKE OF LAST SUNDAY'S WINSTORM THAT CAUSED
WIDESPREAD DAMAGE AND POWER OUTAGES.
CONGRESSMAN JOHN YARMUTH ALSO ANNOUNCED THAT HE'LL
ASK HOUSE LAWMAKERS TO INCLUDE KENTUCKY IN A DISASTER RELIEF
PACKAGE THAT WILL BE CONSIDERED NEXT WEEK ON CAPITOL HILL.
AS OF THIS MORNING, ABOUT 108-THOUSAND LOUISVILLE GAS
AND ELECTRIC COMPANY CUSTOMERS WERE STILL WITHOUT
POWER.
