FRANKFORT, Ky. - Kentucky’s new Sixth District Congressman, who was sworn in Thursday, says he already knows where much of his attention will be focused.
Representative Andy Barr called his experience being sworn in “awe inspiring.” The newly minted congressman took the oath Thursday afternoon, then took part in a ceremonial swearing in later in the day.
Barr is set to serve on the House Committee on Financial Services. He says ensuring more businesses owners in Kentucky can get credit will be among his priorities.
"It's a tremendous opportunity to be in a position to help address the jobs crisis in central and eastern Kentucky. We have unemployment that's higher than the national average in our congressional district," he says.
Barr defeated Congressman Ben Chandler in a November rematch for the seat.
