Barr Concedes Congressional Race To Chandler

By Alan Lytle

Lexington, KY – Republican Andy Barr has conceded defeat to Democratic U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler, 10 days after voters cast their ballots in Central Kentucky's 6th Congressional District.

Barr made the announcement earlier this afternoon ending speculation over what might happen if a re-canvass of the district failed to turn up enough votes to make him the winner.

The end result was a net gain of one vote for Barr.

Of the over 239-thousand ballots cast in the Congressional race, Chandler emerged victorious by 648 votes.

The tally is expected to be certified by the Kentucky Board of Elections on November 22nd.
