Ashley Judd Says She Will File Charges Over Cyber Bullying

Ashley Judd is fighting back against verbal attacks towards her on social media over the weekend.

The famous Kentucky native is well known for her love of the UK men’s basketball team and outspoken support of them on-camera and on-line.  During Sunday’s game Judd tweeted that “@ArkRazorbacks dirty play can kiss my team’s free throw making a** _ Bloodied 3 players so far.”  A firestorm of negative responses went to Judd’s twitter account.  Some called her offensive names; others threatened to rape or harm her.  On Tuesday she told NBC she would file charges.  “The amount of gender violence that I experience is absolutely extraordinary and a significant part of my day today will be spent filing police reports at home about gender violence that’s directed at me on social media.”

The actress and UK Alum said she doesn’t expect the cases to be prosecuted vigorously but she hopes to send a message.  Last month Twitter’s CEO Dick Costolo send an internal memo saying “we suck at dealing with abuse and trolls on the platform.”  Since then, the company has tripled the size of the staff that handles abuse reports.
