Arrests Made In UK Arson Case

Three University of Kentucky Students have been arrested by UK Police in an arson case.

The arrests come following an investigation that began Wednesday night on campus.  UK Police Chief Joe Monroe said, that’s when a car fire was reported in the parking lot of Commonwealth Stadium just before nine o’clock at night.

“When the officers and the Fire Department arrived, we discovered some suspicious circumstances and were able to determine that a cardboard box had been placed under the car’s bumper and ignited.  After reviewing video footage from the area we were able to determine that it indeed was set on fire intentionally and we were able to get a vehicle description as well as able to identify some of the suspects.”

18-year olds Cullen Gallaher and  Jennings Kleeman, as well as 19-year old Ian Baughman are charged with second degree arson which is a felony.  Monroe credits the hundreds of new high-tech cameras that have been placed across campus in helping police identify the suspects.
