6th District Race Has A New Entry
LEXINGTON, Ky. - A third candidate has officially entered the race for the 6th Congressional District seat. Randolph Vance campaigned for the same office in 2010 as a write-in candidate, but will appear on the ballot this year.
Despite a lack of campaign funds and name recognition, Vance, a Lexington resident who works at the Speedway gas station in Beaumont Center, says he’s prepared to take on Representative Ben Chandler and Lexington lawyer Andy Barr in the November election. Neither Republicans nor Democrats, he says, are willing to back one particular idea that could create jobs in the state.
"It's a huge, uphill battle, but someone needs to take up, I think, where Gatewood Galbraith left off and fight for industrial hemp for Kentucky," the candidate told WUKY.
Vance received 22 votes as a write-in candidate in 2010. He plans to campaign primarily through social media.
