Chase Cavanaugh


Chase Cavanaugh first got on the air as a volunteer reader for Central Kentucky Radio Eye, a local news service for the visually impaired.  He began reporting for WUKY in February 2012, after receiving his Master’s degree from the University of Kentucky’s Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce. 

Cavanaugh’s interest in politics, economics, and foreign affairs has deep roots.  He grew up in a Foreign Service family living around the world, received his Bachelor’s degree in political science from Notre Dame, studied French at Middlebury, and spent a year in Paris at Sciences Po.

Student Group Protests UK's Lack Of Environmental Progress

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Clean energy was the subject of an Earth Day protest at the University of Kentucky.  Members of the student environmental group Green Thumb collected petitions urging the campus’s Climate Action Plan Committee to meet as it has promised.

UK Student Group Competing For $25,000 Grant

LEXINGTON, Ky. - A University of Kentucky student organization that helps train animals to work with special needs clients has been chosen as one of 200 finalists in State Farm’s Neighborhood Assist program.    Wildcat Service Dogs is in line to receive up to $25,000 if it makes the final cut.

UK's Markey Center Holds Annual Cancer Research Day Event

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The University of Kentucky’s Markey Cancer Center held its annual Cancer Research Day on Monday.  Over 140 posters lined the halls of UK’s Singletary Center, highlighting recent research.

Director Mark Evers says Markey should hear word soon regarding its application to the National Cancer Institute for designation as Kentucky’s first and only national cancer center.
