Horse Park Launching Green Projects For WEG

Lexington, KY – On Monday state officials announced the Horse Park is using a combination of stimulus funds and low-interest loans to, as First Lady Jane Beshear explains, become leaner and greener.

Execution Dates Could Be Set For Three On Death Row

Frankfort, KY – Death row inmate Ralph Baze is awaiting execution for the January 1992 murders of Powell County Sheriff Steve Bennett and Deputy Arthur Briscoe.

Robert Foley is awaiting execution for the September 1993 murders of Laurel County brothers Rodney and Lynn Vaughn.

And Greg Wilson is awaiting execution for the May 1987 kidnapping, rape and murder of Deborah Pooley of Kenton County.

Bad Prison Food Not To Blame For Northpoint Riot

Frankfort, KY – On August 18th, a modified lockdown and controlled movement schedule were ordered at Northpoint Training Center near Danville. The lockdown followed a fight involving weapons between a group of Hispanic inmates and two other inmates. A search for weapons followed.

Water Leak Damages Documents In State Libraries And Archives

Frankfort, KY – A water line leading to the archives' microfilm processor burst over the weekend, and leaked water into the research room for about an hour before being discovered. State Archivist Barbara Teague says some state periodicals were damaged, but none of the state's rare documents were affected. "Everything is fine. Some of the things that were damaged are our newer publications. We found the leak fairly quickly."
