Legends Open 10th Home Season

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- – The Lexington Legends is now in its 10th season as part of the central Kentucky sports scene. The single-A baseball team will celebrate the milestone at Friday night's home opener against the Greenville Drive.

"We hope the baseball is good, we think it's going to be very good this year. It has been usually in the past," said Legends President and CEO Alan Stein. "But more than that, it's about the experience the fans have coming to the ballpark, and we never lose sight of that as our key motivator."

Beshear "Disgusted" With Legislature

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear plans to call a special session on the budget next month, whether House and Senate leaders have a budget agreement or not. The governor lashed out at lawmakers Thursday for leaving Frankfort without approving a new state spending plan during the 60-day, 2010 session.

Tea Party Protesters Hold Rally in Louisville

Louisville, KY – Hundreds of protesters rallied to oppose taxes and government spending, with some attendees supporting armed revolution and impeachment to remove elected officials from office.

For the most part, though, the event was a chance for Republican candidates for the Senate, the House and the mayor's office to campaign. Former county GOP chairman Brad Cummings says tea parties are essential opportunities for candidates to ask for votes.

Some But Not All Senate Candidates Show Up For Debate At UK

Lexington, KY – Exactly half of the announced candidates for U-S Senate showed up Wednesday for a debate at the University of Kentucky. The forum was sponsored by the Scripps Howard First Amendment Center. Democrats Maurice Sweeney, Darlene Fitzgerald Price, Republican Gurley Martin, plus the two Democrat physicians in the race, James Buckmaster and Daniel Mongiardo, reiterated their positions on various issues including the healthcare overhaul, excessive taxes, and big money lobbyists.

New Program To Help Job Seekers Look Their Best

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- – Whether it's a men's blazer or women's suit separates, a new source for business apparel in Lexington has it all. But as Brenna Angel reports, "Suit Yourself" is not your typical department store.

Suit Yourself grew from a job training workshop sponsored by Catholic Charities of Lexington. Program coordinator Annie Ormsbee has been collecting suits, dress shirts, shoes, and accessories for a career studio designed to help the poor and unemployed.

Beshear to Legislature - Don't Make Me Call A Special Session

Louisville, KY – Kentucky legislators have a Thursday deadline to approve a roughly 17-billion dollar state spending plan. House Democrats and Senate Republicans are divided on whether the state should borrow money for new schools and other projects.

Governor Steve Beshear says if the legislature fails to meet the deadline, he'll be forced to call a special session, at a cost of 60-thousand dollars per day for taxpayers.
