Campus Comes Together For UK Fusion

Lexington, KY – Fusion, which stands for For Unity and Service In Our Neighborhood, is an annual event that gives freshmen and upper classmen the opportunity to lend a hand at over one hundred local sites. Mary Kate Fields is the Executive Director of UK Fusion.

"Retirement homes, neighborhoods, parks, non-profit agencies, we're going to help clean and organize, do some clerical work. We're going to Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, so we have a lot of different kinds of projects today."

Family Foundation Challenges Instant Racing

FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Family Foundation of Kentucky wants a say in the court case testing the legality of instant racing. The state's horse racing commission is seeking a judicial ruling on Instant Racing, or electronic wagering on previously run races.

Martin Cothran of the Family Foundation says Instant Racing is just another form of casino gambling.

Welcome Freshmen: New Students Move In To UK Dorms

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Carrying bedspreads, mini-fridges, and mementos from home, thousands of teenagers and parents experienced a rite-of-passage Friday: moving off to college. It's freshman move-in day at the University of Kentucky.

UK President Dr. Lee Todd and his wife Patsy greeted new students and their parents moving into the dorms Friday morning. Todd says it's an exciting time for the Lexington campus.

Breeders' Cup Not Much Help For Ky. Thoroughbred Development Fund

LEXINGTON, Ky. – A program designed to supplement purses at Kentucky horse tracks may not benefit from the Breeders' Cup World Championships when they come to Churchill Downs this fall. The Kentucky Thoroughbred Development Fund rewards owners and breeders of Kentucky-bred horses who race in their native state.
