UK To Hold Campus Safety Forum

Lexington, KY – A rash of recent robberies has prompted UK Police and student groups to hold a special campus safety forum tonight. It starts at 7 pm in Worsham Theatre of the UK Student Center.

The panel will take questions, hear concerns, and discuss details of the most recent Campus Safety and Security Report which was released on Wednesday. The report lists crimes from 17 different categories.

Coal Ash Hearing Brings Out Disparate Groups

Louisville, KY – Environmental groups say states are not doing an adequate job of protecting the public from the toxins contained in coal ash and want the EPA to classify it as hazarous waste.

The coal industry, utility companies and coal waste recyclers say that would drive up costs with minimal environmental benefit.

EPA officials heard from a parade of witnesses Tuesday. The Louisville hearing was one of eight being held across the country this year by the EPA.

WEG Visitors Taking In Sights and History of Lexington

Lexington, KY – For the duration of the games, LexArts is adding guided tours of its popular Horse Mania exhibit. Project Manager Tony Aros says tours are for anybody who wants the scoop on the artists and their creations.

"The tours are on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 3 p.m. It starts at the Downtown Arts Center and that's 141 East Main Street located across the from the public library. Its about a two mile circuit around downtown and it will probably take around an hour and a half."

Jerich Parzival, ridden by Adelinde Cornelissen of the Netherlands, was eliminated during Tuesday morning?s team Grand Prix when the ground jury observed blood in the horse?s saliva.

Former Wildcat Great, Pro Football Legend George Blanda Dies

Alameda, California – George Blanda, who played longer than anyone in pro football history and racked up the most points in a career that spanned four decades, mostly with the Chicago Bears and Oakland Raiders, died Monday. He was 83.

Rain Washes Out Spotlight Events For Monday

Lexington, KY – A release from the Mayor's office says this evening's Spotlight Lexington entertainment has been canceled because of weather.

The Robbie Bartlett performance has been rescheduled for 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 29, in Cheapside Park. Spotlight is working to reschedule "The City" concert.
