UK Trustees Consider Cost of New President

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The search for the next University of Kentucky president may cost in the neighborhood of $100,000 to $200,000. That was the news from consultant Bill Shelton, who works with the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges and addressed the UK Board of Trustees on Sunday.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports that Shelton also suggested that the board consider a much higher salary for Dr. Lee Todd's replacement, starting at around $700,000. With a retroactive pay raise awarded last month, Todd's salary is $511,000 dollars.

Conway - Paul KET Debate Will Take Place As Scheduled

Lexington, KY – Kentucky Republican U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul says he will keep his commitment to debate Democrat Jack Conway on statewide television Monday night. Paul, a Tea Party favorite, had threatened to pull out of the appearance in light of Conway's much talked about "Aqua Buddha" ad which Paul calls "despicable, odious, and dangerous."

In Lexington Friday afternoon, the Bowling Green eye surgeon read from a prepared statement and declined to take follow up questions from the media.

WEG Ticket Numbers Released

LEXINGTON, Ky. – World Equestrian Games officials say 411,023 tickets were sold to the 16-day event that wrapped up earlier this month at the Kentucky Horse Park.

In a statement released Thursday afternoon, the WEG organizing committee announced tickets were sold in 63 countries and all 50 states. Officials say preliminary estimates show 70 percent of sales came from outside Kentucky.

Students to Hold Free Car Care Clinic

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lexington motorists can benefit from a free car inspection this weekend conducted by Fayette County students at Eastside Technical Center.

Under the guidance of the Professional Master Technicians Association, students in the automotive classes will check the basics such as oil level, antifreeze, transmission fluid, hoses, electrical wires, and tire pressure. Eastside instructor Bobby Riddle says it's a great way for the students to learn and meet working professionals.
