Why Didn't I Think of That?

Lexington, KY – Central Kentucky Inventors Council president Don Skaggs says the theme this year is "The Power of Connections".

"It's for really anyone who is interested in inventing, or is an entrepreneur. Whether you are an experienced inventor or even if you are new to the whole world of inventing, we cover all the bases."

Skaggs says a lot of great ideas are generated and shared with the public at the annual gathering.

Lexington Police Officer Injured During Vehicle Pursuit

Lexington, KY – Police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts says Officer Michael Steele was in pursuit of a speeder on Winchester Road shortly after 4 am Monday when he crashed his cruiser trying to turn onto Walton Avenue. The speeding vehicle was able to get away. No word on Officer Steele's condition as of noon Monday.

The Legacy of Kentucky's WEG

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The 2010 Alltech World Equestrian Games are no more. The international sporting event that awarded championship titles in eight equine disciplines wrapped up at the Kentucky Horse Park Sunday after a 16-day run. When all the horses are shipped back to their home stables, and all the pavilions and temporary seating taken down, what will be the legacy of this year's WEG?

Is Kentucky's Economy On The Road To Recovery?

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky continues to emerge from the recession, with General Fund receipts posting two consecutive quarters of growth.

State tax receipts last month were $764 million, or 5.3 percent higher than last September. Corporate tax receipts last month rose 62 percent. Lottery revenue was up slightly, along with individual income tax receipts.

Homeland Security Chief Visits Lexington

Lexington, KY – Lexington will soon sign on to become one of 650 so-called Secure Communities. Essentially it'll allow the fingerprints of anyone arrested by local authorities to be shared with federal immigration officials.

"It is the most uniform, consistent, and easy way to make sure that we identify those who not only have broken our criminal laws but also have broken our immigration laws, and make sure that we have a seamless transition from the criminal justice system into the immigration and deportation system."
