Where To Cut? Mayor Making Final Decisions for Budget Proposal

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Officials at Lexington's City Hall are making final decisions about the mayor's budget plan. Finance Commissioner Jane Driskell says the spending proposal will be presented to the public and the Urban County Council next Tuesday April 12.

"I think that you will see some changes in the level of filled positions. So the expectation that there'll be changes in the number of folks employed is one the Mayor's made quite clear. I think you'll see the results of that analysis."

Toyota Plant Shutdowns "Likely"

Louisville, KY – A Toyota Motor Company spokesperson says reports from earlier Monday about impending plant shutdowns were not entirely accurate.

Jim Wiseman says North American Toyota manufacturers will likely face a shortage of parts from Japan, and that will likely lead to some or all of the 13 factories halting production until new parts arrive, but no further decisions have been made.

School Safety Report Shows More Minority Students Being Disciplined

RICHMOND, Ky. – A new analysis on school safety in Kentucky shows students of color are disciplined at a higher rate than white public school students.

Each year, the Kentucky Center for School Safety looks at two areas of disciplinary action: violations of school board policy and violations of criminal law.
